We are currently seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team in a role that offers both variety and the chance to make a significant impact. This is a unique opportunity to split your time between an embedded finance assistant position with a high-growth client and traditional bookkeeping for diverse clients also.
The Role
This position is split into two distinct but complementary parts, offering variety and growth potential.
Finance Assistant Role (Mornings):
You will work closely with one of their most exciting clients, who is at a pivotal stage of business growth. You will essentially serve as their in-house finance assistant, handling day-to-day financial tasks and supporting their small, energetic team.
Responsibilities will include:
Managing daily financial operations such as accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, and bank reconciliations
Process purchase invoices and credit notes, produce supplier payments list and ensure client is aware of what needs to be paid, maintain a clean and tidy purchase ledger
Process employee expenses
Process bank transactions
Monitor and update billing software
Produce sales invoices and maintain sales ledger
Credit control – issue statements and copy invoices, chase outstanding debts

Bookkeeping for Diverse Clients (Afternoons): In the afternoons, you’ll shift gears to focus on other bookkeeping responsibilities within the Accountancy practice. This will include:
Handling bookkeeping for multiple smaller clients across various industries
Preparing VAT returns and maintaining accurate financial records
Managing daily financial operations such as accounts payable/receivable, invoicing, and bank reconciliations
This portion of the role offers exposure to a broad range of industries and clients, keeping the work varied and stimulating. You’ll expand your skills and have the chance to work on more complex year-end projects as your experience grows.
What We’re Looking For:
Proven bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
Strong experience with cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Experience in month-end processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Skills:
Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines effectively
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A proactive attitude, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
Qualifications:
A bookkeeping or accounting qualification (e.g., AAT) is desirable but not essential if experience is strong.
